1997 年よりイラストレーター、グラフィックデザイナーとして活動を始める。
2000 年以降、”YOICHIRO”としてファッションや音楽とリンクさせたスタイルで、安室奈美恵、LiSA、HYDE、GLAY-HISASHI、MAN WITH A MISSION、Kis-My-Ft2、TRFなどのアーティストコラボから、LOUIS VUITTON や COACH をはじめとするファッションブランドや、サマーソニックにてミューラルを通年に渡り制作するなど、多岐に渡り活躍する中、2022年にYOICHIRO ANDOとして現代アート作家としても活動をスタートさせた。

作品の多くは人物の顔の一部が隠されている。顔の一部を隠すことで、感覚から得られる情報源を断ち、他者の感情や人格を想察し、自分自身が何者で、何を目的に生きているのかを見つめ直し、偏見や圧力からの脱却と自らの物差しで物事を捉えることの肝要さを 鑑賞者に示唆している。そんな今を生きる人々への洞察力の再考を問う作品であり、自分らしく 生きることへの解放を促している。

In 1997, the artist YOICHIRO ANDO started his career as an illustrator and graphic designer.
Since 2000, he has been working as “YOICHIRO” linking his style with fashion and music, and has collaborated with artists such as Namie Amuro, LiSA, HYDE, GLAY-HISASHI, MAN WITH A MISSION, Kis-My-Ft2, and TRF. He has been active in a wide range of fields, from artist collaborations to fashion brands such as LOUIS VUITTON and COACH, as well as year-round production of mullals at Summer Sonic, and in 2022 he started his career as a contemporary art artist as YOICHIRO ANDO.

In many of his works, a part of a person’s face is hidden. By hiding a portion of facial features, the artist cuts off the source of information that can be obtained from the visual senses, and encourages viewers to consider the feelings and personalities of those portrayed, to reflect on who you are and what your purpose actually is in life, to break free from prejudice and pressure, and to see things in your own perspective.

Encouraging viewers to re-examine their own perceptions of people living in the present, the work also encourages them to live their own lives in their own way.
