この度、2025年4月3日(木)〜4月8日(水)に、アーティスト「MANABU KISHIMOTO」によるSolo Exhibition「Be.」を「GALLERY FELES」にて開催いたします。

【本イベントについて/About The Exhibition】

私たちは日常の中で、無意識のうちに外見や性別、地位、民族などによって人を分類し、境界線を引くことで関係を築いています。
しかし、その境界を取り払ったときに残るのは、ただ「人である」ということ。その普遍的な在り方にほかなりません。

今回の展示では、アーサー王伝説の“円卓の騎士”をモチーフに、人間関係の本質を問い直します。
円卓は、すべての騎士が対等に座る場であり、そこには上下の区別や固定された序列が存在しません。
この象徴的な構造は、私たちが築いてきた社会的な枠組みを超え、ただ「存在」として向き合うことの重要性を示唆します。

「人とは何か」―― 境界を削ぎ落とし、外的な属性が消えたとき、そこには何が残るのか。

MANABU KISHIMOTOの作品は、人間の「存在」、ただ「在る」ということを根本に据え、そこから外的な要素を削ぎ落としながら、人間そのものの本質に迫ります。

この展示が、私たちが無意識に引く境界を超え、ただ「在る」ことに目を向ける契機となれば幸いです。

In our daily lives, we unconsciously categorize people based on appearance, gender, status, ethnicity, and other attributes, drawing boundaries to establish relationships.

However, when we remove these boundaries, what remains is simply the fact of being human—nothing more, nothing less.

This exhibition reexamines the essence of human relationships through the motif of the Knights of the Round Table from the legend of King Arthur.
The Round Table is a place where all knights sit as equals, without distinctions of rank or fixed hierarchies. This symbolic structure transcends the social frameworks we have built and highlights the importance of facing one another simply as beings.

“What does it mean to be human?”—When we strip away external attributes and dissolve boundaries, what remains?

The works of MANABU KISHIMOTO are rooted in the concept of pure “existence.” By peeling away external elements, they delve into the fundamental essence of humanity.

We hope this exhibition serves as an opportunity to transcend the unconscious boundaries we create and shift our focus toward the simple act of “being.”

【アーティストについて/About Artist】

【MANABU KISHIMOTO】

MANABU KISHIMOTOは、何層にも重ねた絵の具を削ることで、人間の「存在」そのものを描き出そうとしている。
外見、性別、地位、民族などは人間を形作る一要素に過ぎず、本質を定義するものではない。
2000年以降のSNS社会では、人間を分類し、境界線を引くことで理解の効率化が進められてきたが、本来、人間の存在は偶発性と曖昧なグラデーションの中にある。
彼の作品は、日本の伝統技法「研ぎ出し」を応用し、幾層にも塗り重ねたアクリル絵具を水研ぎすることで、削られた表層の下から複雑に重なり合う色彩の痕跡を浮かび上がらせる。
この「削る」という行為を通して、社会が引いた境界線や後付けされた属性を取り払い、人間がただ「在る」ということ、その純粋な存在の本質を浮かび上がらせることを試みている。

Manabu Kishimoto attempts to depict the very essence of human “existence” by carving through multiple layers of paint.

Appearance, gender, status, and ethnicity are merely elements that shape a person; they do not define their true essence. Since the rise of social media in the 2000s, society has increasingly classified individuals and drawn boundaries to facilitate understanding. However, human existence is inherently characterized by contingency and ambiguous gradations.

His works apply the traditional Japanese technique of togidashi, in which multiple layers of acrylic paint are wet-sanded, revealing traces of colors intricately intertwined beneath the surface. Through this act of “carving,” he seeks to remove the boundaries imposed by society and the attributes assigned to individuals, ultimately unveiling the pure essence of existence itself.
